Planet Art is an environmental art youth program that provides teacher training, art supplies, and educational outreach to thousands of underserved students throughout the entire school year. Works of art from hundreds of students locally and globally come together in an annual art exhibition and into an art book that is distributed to all participating classes around the world. Through the Planet Art youth outreach program, NWM encourages imagination, creativity, and habitat awareness through the integration of visual and performing arts, creative writing, and direct experiences in nature.

The Field Musuem in Chicago
Family PlayLab
April 18 - September 6, 2008

Adults are not alone in their efforts to take action to save the environment - children are often times as effective, or even more effective, at getting their messages across. A key aspect of Planet Art is harnessing the energy of inspired young people and converting it into positive and solid action. At The Field Museum in Chicago between April and October 2008, children will be able to send their environmental concerns and pledges of action to environmental leaders - directly from the museum itself! After viewing Melting Ice / A Hot Topic with their parents, friends or schoolmates, kids will have a chance to send a postcard with their own illustration of their biggest environmental concern to either the Mayor of Chicago, the Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency, or the Executive Director of UNEP.
